About Tom

Since joining the gardening club two years ago, Tom has taken on many different tasks and projects with great enthusiasm such as working tirelessly to help the school achieve the Kent Messenger’s “Green School of the Year Award 2017”. Tom is often emailed by staff asking him to help save their classroom-based plants, and has even sold crops to a local farm shop to help raise funds for the garden.

Judges' comments

“With his good foundation of gardening skills, it is clear to see that Tom enjoys his time in the garden, and I am impressed with how he has taken this further to help his local community with the planting of woodland trees.”

"Tom is so resourceful and dedicated. He is also clearly very enterprising, selling produce from gardening to the local farm shop to raise money for the school garden."
