Jamie Akehurst

About Jamie

Jamie is passionate about gardening, wildlife and sustainability and loves to spend him time outside in the school’s wonderful garden. Every Friday at 1pm, Jamie can be found waiting at the garden gate, ready to go in and check on the potatoes or water the other crops. He is always learning more and is using the garden to develop a number of other skills to help him in the future.

Judges' comments

“How wonderful to see a child becoming so well engaged with a garden, when classroom activities are clearly a struggle it is clear that being outdoors and in touch with horticulture is helping Jamie to develop.”

"You can tell how much Jamie enjoys gardening and he such a great deal of knowledge for someone so young!"
