We're excited to announce the launch of our new eLearning course for beginner school gardeners. These free courses will help you to understand the key benefits of gardening in your school and give you the skills to get growing.

Course one: Getting Started with School Gardening

This 45-minute course covers:

  • The research-backed benefits of school gardening
  • How to get started, think about your space and the tools and equipment you will need
  • Ways to engage members from across the school community, including Senior Leadership

Course two: Basic Horticulture Skills for School Gardening

This one-hour course covers:

  • The horticultural knowledge you will need to start growing in your school
  • Growing from seed, plant care and watering
  • Growing with the seasons

Course three: Planet-friendly Gardening

This one-hour course covers:

  • Soil health, peat-free compost, mulching and no-dig gardening methods
  • How to attract biodiversity into the school garden
  • Ways to make new plants from old through propagation techniques
