RHS Young School Gardener of the Year 2016
From Dunalley Primary School, Cheltenham
Jack truly thrives when he is in the garden. He attends gardening club without fail and offers to visit the garden in the holidays to help out. On top of his usual gardening tasks, Jack has also shovelled heaps of top soil and diligently collected vegetable waste from the kitchen. His confidence has grown so much through gardening and he is always wanting to do more.
“Jack is clearly incredibly dedicated to gardening and is like a young groundsman working tirelessly to keep the area tidy and looking great.”
“Jack seemed completely at home in the outdoors and the garden seems to be his way forward in life.”
“Jack is a wonderful example of how gardening can have a therapeutic effect on pupils and help improve focus in the classroom. Jack has used gardening to help him develop skills and is now using those skills to help others.”
