RHS Young School Gardener of the Year 2016

Harrison Coombs
6 years old from Fourfields Community Primary School, Yaxley
KS1/P1-2 Finalist

About Harrison

For such a young person, Harrison is proving to be a first class gardener. His enthusiasm for gardening is so infectious that his parents have now given him his own gardening patch at home! He pays a great deal of attention to the instructions that he is given and takes care when sowing seeds and watering plants. His smile is contagious and he loves to share a joke or two.

Judges' comments

“Harrison has a wonderful understanding of the principals of horticulture which is wonderful for someone so young.”

“Harrison has brilliant enthusiasm and drive, and we all loved his contagious smile. He was certainly a favourite of the judges but just pipped to the post by Fred.”

“Harrison has some really great horticultural knowledge and he has some very impressive knowledge of composting and watering. His interest in insects was very evident and he knew the importance of composting. Fantastic.”
