About Gordano School
This team are a small group of pupils who meet once a week after school to tame an overgrown area called “The Secret Garden”. Although small, the group are always very enthusiastic and willing to have a go. They have achieved a huge amount, including tackling a huge bramble patch! They are exemplary in their determination to transform an all-but forgotten area into a beautiful space.
Judges' comments
“The team at Gordano work so naturally together and every member has had an input into their garden plans. They have great vision as to what their garden will be and are brilliant ambassadors for secondary aged gardening.”
“The students at Gordano are very ambitious and have made huge progress in bringing their ‘Secret Garden’ plan to life. They understand the need for creating spaces in the garden to teach the curriculum or for students to enjoy a calm environment. I would love to see how the garden looks when it’s finished.”
“Gordano are a great team bursting with ideas and creativity. Their determination is admirable and they are a very worthy finalist.”
