About Stafford Manor High School

From using power tools to assemble a new garden shed to filling hanging baskets for a building site without much direction, this team of year 7 students are always enthusiastic and ready to work. They are always willing to help at the Rising Brook Community Garden and make sure that everyone is included and working hard. They fill the garden with chat and laughter.

Judges' comments

“I love that the group put on a garden party to celebrate making the final of this competition. It shows their spirit, enthusiasm and dedication; and to have achieved so much in just six months is really incredible.”

“It’s wonderful to see a secondary aged group working so brilliantly together in the garden. Every student in the group gets stuck in whether it’s using power tools to construct raised beds, wood staining the raised beds, shovelling compost or watering the plants – they all carry out their work with a smile on their face – and the occasional song!”

“The team at Stafford Manor High are a joy to watch. The students are hardworking but still have time to enjoy a good laugh. They are also engaging with the community by inviting parents and adults into the school to enjoy their efforts and by helping out at a local community gardening project every week. This team is a very worthy winner.”
