About Ash

Ash’s vocation for nature, easy manner and desire to make a difference to both the environment and vulnerable people in society is transforming challenging boys into useful community members at Belmont. The wasteland he was provided with when he joined is now an amazing garden and resource for the whole school and he has delivered more level one qualifications than the rest of school curriculum combined.

Judges' comments

"Ash is truly inspirational individual who, for the last ten years, has been giving groups of disadvantaged boys the opportunity to learn new skills and build confidence, better equipping them for their future careers. He has transformed the garden into a stunning haven  that is also benefitting members of the community who are using the space to overcome obstacles in their lives."

"We were so impressed by the incredible work that Ash is doing at Belmont School - and the beautiful garden he has created! His belief in and dedication to upskilling the students out in the garden is clear. It's obvious that he's a brilliant role model for the boys he works with."
