About Ed

Ed teaches across a network of three high achieving Special Needs Academies in Portsmouth, working hard with the students to inspire a passion and interest in horticulture. Carefully considering the needs of all students, Ed ensure they each get the opportunity to feel the soil through their fingers, smell the scents of the flowers and taste the vegetables they have grown. Through Ed’s dedication, the students have been able to gain a sense of independence while also building their self-esteem and confidence.

Judges' comments

“You can tell that Ed has worked so hard across his four schools and he has made sure that young people are involved in the process. Many of the young people don’t have access to gardens at home so he has helped them to have access to new experiences.”
