Turn your Pupils into Space Biologists!

Two curriculum linked Rocket Science packs have been written specially for schools.
The Primary pack contains three fun plant and space themed activities Plan an Astro garden, People Need Plants in Space and Grow plants on Mars: Design and Make a Structure. These link to Key Stage 1 and 2 and the Scottish first and second level Maths, English, Science and D&T.
The Secondary pack contains three experiments which look at Growing Food for Space Exploration, the Hazards of Space Mutation and Healthy Eating for Space Travellers. These link to the Key stage 3 and 4 and the Scottish third and fourth level Science Curriculum.

All the resources can be found online at the ESERO website here.
To access the resources you will have to register with STEM. This is free, quick and easy to do and you will then have access to all the Tim Peake and Principia related educational resources.

The Primary Schools Resource Pack can be found here.

The Secondary Schools Resource Pack can be found here

To follow Tim Peake throughout his mission please go to the Principia website. Here a number of educational activities and events can be found for ages 4-18. There are regular updates on what Tim is up to and all the experiments he is carrying out while on the International Space Station.

Have fun becoming space biologists!

The Experiment

These activities and experiments go alongside the main Rocket Science experiment, find details here.

Once the seeds return in spring 2016 they will be sent out to schools. The seeds will be accompanied by a how to guide booklet to help you carry out the experiment, a data recording measurement chart and Rocket Science stickers.

The seeds will be sent out in blue and red packets and will be grown side by side. Pupils and teachers will not know which are space or earth. A video message from Tim Peake will reveal which packet was from space at the end of the summer term 2016.

Additional information

The Rocket Science experiment is open to UK schools only. However any international schools outside the UK, that wish to take part can use the online Rocket Science School Resource packs. This allows you to carry out your own Rocket Science themed activities and experiements.
