There’s a whole host of ways you can bring the outdoors to life at this time of year – from a classic wreath to a crafty bird feeder. 1. Winter light

2. Wreath making

The festive season isn’t complete without a beautiful wreath. Whether you hang yours on the front door, in a window or on a wall, take advantage of the seasonal greenery found in your local area to make yours unique.

3. Festive bird feeder garland

With food in much shorter supply over the winter months, help out the birds in your local area by creating a festive garland for them to enjoy. Packed full of tasty treats like orange slices, cranberries and popcorn, you can use your garland on a balcony or use it to decorate an outdoor Christmas tree. Let us know how many birds you spot.

4. Willow star wands

Using willow stems, follow our guide to shape them into magical wands. You can use your stars as festive storytelling aids or to decorate your home or garden. If you stick them into the ground, you may even see them sprout leaves in the spring.

5. Bird seed baubles

Decorate the trees outside and keep the birds happy at the same time. Our feathered friends benefit from feeding year round, but winter is a time to provide foodstuffs with a high fat content to help keep them warm. You can add extra festive cheer by swapping the string for coloured ribbon, and adding colourful berries.
