Updated August 2020
To all of our members, followers and fellow gardeners,
Health and wellbeing is very important to us at the RHS and with the ongoing situation with COVID-19, we want to update you on what this means for the Campaign for School Gardening.
As this situation is changing daily, we are following the UK Government advice and NHS guidelines.
New members
If you have recently signed up to the Campaign, unfortunately your welcome pack will be delayed as we have suspended postal deliveries. However, you can still download our resources online to help you plan your garden or to help you find things to keep you occupied and feeling happy if you are having to spend time at home. We hope to be able to start sending out welcome packs again this autumn.
Training courses
We have cancelled all training courses for the foreseeable future. We will be running courses again, but please check back on our website at a later date for an update.
If you have any questions about training courses, you can contact the team at
Grow Social
We recommend that all groups planning to take part in Grow Social cancel their events for 2020, due to Government regulations regarding social distancing and group sizes.  We hope to bring this initiative back in 2021 so stay tuned.

Grow Social is about trying to help combat social isolation and your efforts are needed now more than ever. Please remember to check in on your neighbours and those who may be feeling isolated, and to also look after your own wellbeing. If you grew the sunflower seeds we sent you as part of the 2020 pack, why share your pictures with us on social media?

School Gardening Awards
If you have recently submitted evidence for the next level of our School Gardening Awards scheme, we are sorry to let you know that we won't be able to deliver your rewards until later in the year as we have suspended postal deliveries, but we will keep you on the list ready to receive them later in the year.

School Gardeners of the Year competition
Unfortunately, we have taken the decision to cancel our School Gardeners of the Year competition 2020.
Having read the fantastic entries, we couldn’t let this strange year go by without celebrating everyone’s green-fingered achievements. So, all nominees will receive a certificate in the post.
Design a Secret Garden
Despite the movie release date being pushed back to later this year, the Secret Garden competition remains open and could even be a great activity for children and young people to do at home. If you applied for one of our Primary School packs, these will now be posted later in the year.
What's next?
We are excited to let you know that the Big Soup Share will still be going ahead this autumn, during the week of 5-11 October.

Whether you want to host a socially-distant Soup Share or get together for a dish digitally, we'll have a whole heap of resources to help you on the way. As well as helpful resources and activities, there will be a fun filled line-up of online goodies for you to enjoy throughout the week from the comfort of your own home! Head to the Soup Share page to register your interest.
Keep in touch
Apologies if you have tried to contact us by phone recently. We are temporarily unable to answer it as the team are now working from home.
In the meantime, do keep in touch with us on Facebook, Twitter or via email at
Stay safe and happy gardening!

Best wishes,
The RHS Campaign for School Gardening and Communities Teams
