About the competition
Our competition this year is aimed at all young budding gardeners. For those of you that have taken part in our Budding Gardeners competition at RHS Garden Wisley in the past we are delighted to announce that this year the competition will be organised along similar lines to our iconic Chelsea Flower Show. In the spirit of this, the competition this year will be called Children’s Chelsea. We are hoping that this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever and we would love to welcome back our regular Budding Gardener Competition participants but we also hope to receive entries from groups that have not taken part before.
This year, the theme of the competition is Health and Wellbeing as we have been inspired by plans for a Wellbeing Garden due to open at our National Centre for Horticultural Science and Learning at RHS Garden Wisley. This new garden will invite visitors to explore the many ways in which gardens and plants affect physical and emotional wellbeing, and the positive impact they may have on our health. Gardens can be used to improve health in many ways, for instance, through physical therapy, natural healthcare and for relaxation.
We hope you will enjoy discovering the ways in which wellbeing can be supported by gardens and green spaces and that you will be inspired to design and plant an outstanding mini show garden that represents a few of the ideas you discover. Some things to think about during your preparation may be; the healing powers of nature, friendships, garden wildlife, peace and tranquillity, scents and sounds, but of course, the choice is completely up to you.
We know that you will amaze us once again with your creativity and imagination and we cannot wait to see your designs. So pick up your trowels and start planning!
There will be prizes for those chosen to take part in the competition plus awards for the winners of each category, as well as a prize-giving event that will take place in the Garden.
