School gardens are a fantastic resource to help children develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about the natural world. Learn to inspire them through the wonder of plants and send them on a journey of investigation and discovery as they explore the science of the garden. During the day you will enjoy practical activities linked to soils, plant anatomy and plant classification. We will also teach you seed sowing and propagation techniques to bring your lessons on plant lifecycles to life.

Objectives

  • Identify garden plants that you have or could add to your collection that will enable you to teach primary science in a creative way whilst attracting more wildlife to your garden.
  • Learn seed sowing and plant propagation techniques that will add an exciting, practical dimension to your teaching on lifecycles and plant reproduction
  • Explore a range of fun, curriculum linked activities based on gardens and the outdoor environment
