RHS School Gardening Team of the Year 2017 Terms and Conditions

  1. Everyone in the nominated team must be at least 5 years of age by 31 March 2017 and 17 years of age or less on 31 August 2017.
     
  2. Everyone in the nominated team must be in attendance at a school registered to the RHS Campaign for School Gardening that is within the UK (England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland). If your school is not currently registered, you can register free here.
     
  3. Nominations will only be accepted on an RHS School Gardening Team of the Year entry form completed and signed by a responsible adult aged 18 years and over, hereinafter termed ‘The Proposer’. 
     
  4. The Proposer must be an appointed representative of a school.  For example a teacher, teaching assistant, parent helper or volunteer, a school governor or member of a Parent Teacher Association.
     
  5. Only one entry form will be accepted per School Gardening Team.  In the case where two are received, only the first will be accepted.
     
  6. All entries must be emailed to schoolgardening@rhs.org.uk with School Gardening Team of the Year in the subject heading or posted to: RHS Campaign for School Gardening, RHS Garden Wisley, Woking GU23 6QB.
     
  7. The entry form must be received by the RHS by the closing date of 5pm on Friday 28 April 2017. Responsibility cannot be accepted for lost, damaged or mislaid entries. Proof of sending by email or proof of postage is not proof of receipt.
     
  8. The details provided by The Proposer will be used for the purpose of shortlisting for this competition only. By submitting a nomination The Proposer confirms that they have the permission of the parent or guardian of all young persons in the nominated team.  
     
  9. After the closing date the RHS will shortlist four teams, hereinafter termed ‘The Finalists’. Their Proposers will be notified by 5pm on Wednesday 10 May 2017 if their nomination has been shortlisted. The Finalists details will be used to seek consent from the young person where appropriate or the parent or guardian that their young person’s name, school name and location and young person’s photo/film can be used for any purposes the RHS deems appropriate in connection with the RHS School Gardening Team of the Year, including publication on the RHS and/ or Campaign for School Gardening websites.
     
  10. By submitting a nomination The Proposer, as a nominated representative of the school, acknowledges that they have obtained the school’s consent to its name and address being published in connection with receiving a prize and agrees to the RHS disclosing the school name and address on the RHS and/or Campaign for School Gardening websites and to any individual requesting the name of the recipient schools. The school also agrees to take part in any publicity as conducted by the RHS Press Office or Campaign for School Gardening team. 
     
  11. A list of the four Finalists will be posted on the RHS and/ or Campaign for School Gardening websites.
     
  12. Each Finalist’s school will receive a digital camera to make a film to be submitted for the second stage of judging. It is at the school’s discretion whether the camera is retained by the school or presented to the school gardening team. 
     
  13. The closing date for the RHS receiving the films is 5pm on Friday 02 June 2017.
     
  14. The schools’ of the four Finalist teams will get a certificate, an engraved trowel, a pair of gardening gloves for each member (up to a maximum of 30 pairs), a set of gardening tools and £250 in National Garden Gift vouchers.
     
  15. One Finalist Team will be selected as a Winner. Their Proposers will be notified by 5pm on Wednesday 14 June 2017 and listed on the RHS Campaign for School Gardening website.
     
  16. The school of the Winning team will receive a Gabriel Ash Classic Eight Greenhouse and an extra £250 in National Garden Gift Vouchers, a total of £500. The three Finalist teams will each receive a Gabriel Ash Upright Coldframe.
     
  17. RHS Campaign for School Gardening will arrange for a celebrity gardener and members of RHS Staff to attend the school of the Winners of RHS School Gardening Team of the Year 2017 for a dedicated Prize Giving Event.
     
  18. All decisions of the RHS are final and no correspondence regarding the Finalists or Winners can be entered into. 
     
  19. The prizes must be accepted as stated and cannot be altered. There will be no cash alternatives. Vouchers cannot be exchanged for their value. 
     
  20. By sending in the entry form to the RHS you will be deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions and to have agreed to be bound by them. 
     
  21. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
     
  22. The RHS reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time by publication on the RHS and/ or Campaign for School Gardening websites.  
     
  23. RHS Young School Gardener of the Year, RHS School Gardening Champion of the Year and RHS School Gardening Team of the Year is open to UK residents, excluding i) employees, agents or subcontractors of the RHS, ii)  any Competition sponsor or its employees, agents or subcontractor, iii) the immediate families of such employees or sponsors.
