RHS Young Herb Photographer of the Year Terms and Conditions

  1. The competition is open to all young people, aged 5-17, in attendance at a school or community group within the UK (England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland).
  2. No more than four images may be entered by each applicant.
  3. There will be two winners, one from each age category, crowned ‘RHS Young Herb Photographer of the Year’. A runner up will also be selected from each age category and each of the judges will select their favourite individual photos for their own award.
  4. There is no entry fee.
  5. Entries will be accepted via email to schoolgardening@rhs.org.uk only. Photos must be attached to the email, not embedded and may be no more than 2MB in size. File sharing sites such as Dropbox and WeTransfer can be used to submit photos.
  6. All photos entered must be submitted under an individual young person’s name and entries must include their school or community group's name. Photos must be submitted by an adult at that school or community group.
  7. The RHS requires that prior permission be sought before submitting photographs of private or public gardens. Permission is not required for images taken at RHS Gardens: Wisley, Harlow Carr, Rosemoor and Hyde Hall.
  8. Photos from any world location may be submitted.
  9. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that all necessary permissions are obtained from any person featured in a photograph.
  10. By submitting images you confirm that the young person whose name is being entered is the copyright holder and creator of the image and that you and they will be responsible for any claims made by any third party.
  11. Copyright will remain with the photographer. However by entering this competition the photographer/entrant agrees to the RHS using the images for possible exhibition, publication or promotional use.
  12. The decision of the judges is final.
  13. Closing date for receipt of entries is Friday 23 September 2016.
  14. Prize-winners will be notified of results by the beginning of October 2016 and results will be posted on the RHS Campaign for School Gardening website.
  15. By entering the competition you will be deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions.
  16. The competition is open to UK residents excluding immediate family of employees, agents or subcontractors of the RHS and Vitacress.
