Competition details:

We would like pupils to create their best Christmas card design – it could be any design they wish but including an element of horticulture or gardening is preferable.

Pupils can use any media they wish to create their design e.g. pencil, crayon, pen, paint, or even collage. If using collage, please ensure everything is stuck on securely. Please also avoid using chalk as it does not print well. Entries must not be photographs.

Categories:

There were two age categories for the competition:

  • 11 years old and under
  • 12-18 years old

A winner from each category will be chosen and their picture will be printed and sold in RHS shops at all four RHS gardens and on the RHS website. Profits made from the sale of the Christmas cards will go toward the charitable work of the Royal Horticultural Society which includes the RHS Campaign for School Gardening.

Winners will also receive a framed copy of their design, several packs of their printed Christmas cards and a bundle of gardening goodies and art supplies worth £100.

How to enter:

  • Download the entry form (located on the right hand side of this page) and type your school name, address and contact details onto it.
  • Print out the form and ask your pupils to draw or create their design within the template provided.
  • The design must fit into the template which is a 15cm x 15cm square. Please do not send designs that go outside of this square or are a different shape. We recommend pupils create a draft version before completing their final design.
  • Once ready, send the original copy of the design, along with the entry form by post to: Christmas Card Competition, RHS Campaign for School Gardening, RHS Garden Wisley, Woking, Surrey, GU23 6QB.
  • Please do not email designs to us or send photocopies of the design - we must have the original design.
  • If you can, please send your design(s) in a 'do not bend' envelope to prevent your design being creased or damaged.
  • If you would like your artwork returned to you after the competition, please include a SAE with your entry/entries.
  • You can enter as many pupils as you wish but please only submit one design per pupil.

This competition is currently closed, please do not enter.
